A Building is an elevated structure that shelters lives and properties. To erect a building one must consider budget and purpose.
Classification Of Building By Purpose
1) Residential Buildings: Residential buildings are houses where people live.
2) Commercial Buildings or Stalls: Commercial buildings or stalls are those buildings where buying and selling activities are done.
3) Others are school building, hotel building, hospital building, factory building, office building, temple building and lots more.
Classification Of Building by Materials
1) Mud Buildings: Mud buildings are buildings erected with loamy/clayey soil which has been properly treated to plastic nature. They produce very thick walls. Most mud buildings do not exceed ground floor level. However, building research has recently proved that they could also be taken up to the first floor level.
2) Brick Building: Brick buildings are moulded from dried motar (a mixture of cement, sand and lime) and at times clay. They are dried and at times burnt in a klin. Bricks are of two types:
i) The sun dried bricks
ii) The fire burnt bricks (red bricks)
3) Sandcrate Buildings: Sandcrate buildings are built using sandcrate block. Sandcrate blocks are made from the mixture of cement and sand. The cement and sand mixed is poured into fabricated metal moulds by mechanical vibration and compaction or by manual compaction. They are formed into blocks of sizes of the metal moulds.
4) Wood Buildings: Wood Buildings are erected using logs, timber or plywood.
